INKSTER (WWJ) -Police in Inkster are trying to find out how an 8-year-old got a hold of a loaded gun he brought to school.

The weapon was found in the little boy’s backpack by the principal at Daly Elementary School Friday morning.

Police say the child had the gun in school yesterday as well, and showed it to a classmate who then went home and told his parent.

The boy has been released to his mother as police continue their investigation.
