PONTIAC (WWJ) – An Oakland County Circuit court judge hands down the sentence Tuesday to a man convicted of killing his mother.

Twenty-two-year old Jeffrey Pyne was sentenced to 20 to 60 years in prison for the second degree murder conviction last month by Judge Leo Bowman.

Pyne was found guilty of killing his mother, 51-year old Ruth Pyne, at their Highland Township home in 2011. Investigators say Pyne cracked his mother’s skull then stabbed her several times in the neck.

Pyne, a high school valedictorian and former student at University of Michigan will get credit for the 476 days served.
