DETROIT (WWJ) - A firefighter was taken to the hospital after falling through the floor of a burning home on Detroit’s west side.
Fire officials say the fire broke out around 3 a.m. Friday at a home on Rutherford Street, near West Chicago Street and Greenfield Road.
Dispatchers say the firefighter was trying to douse the flames when the floor collapsed beneath him. It wasn’t immediately clear how far the firefighter fell or how seriously he was injured.
The firefighter, whose name wasn’t released, was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
