Tickets On Sale Now For Baconfest Michigan 2013

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Get ready for a sizzling time in Royal Oak. Tickets for the second annual Baconfest, set for June first at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, go on sale at noon Friday.

Organizer Matt Peach says Baconfest Michigan is coming back with more restaurants and more creativity, all centered around one simple rule.

"There has to be bacon in the dish some way or another, and people create desserts, cookies, cupcakes and bacon ice cream, you think it wouldn't be that great but it's amazing," he said.

In addition to bacon-sampling stations, more than 35 Michigan-based restaurants are creating bacon-infused specialties for all attendees to enjoy.

Last year's big hits included bacon-butterscotch pudding and pork-bellied tacos, and even led to menu makeovers for several of the restaurants that took part.

"A lot of the items that the chefs made for the event ended up on their menus. A lot of people use the event as kind of a testing ground and then some people brought items already on their menus and just tweaked the recipe a bit," he said.

Baconfest Michigan 2013 will be held Saturday June 1 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. Tickets are all-inclusive and cost $50. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.baconfestmichigan.com.

Baconfest is an ages 21 and up only event.
