THAW Brings On The Heat For Redford Family

REDFORD (WWJ) - The kitchen stove is good for many things - heating your home isn't one of them. But for a Redford woman there really was no alternative. Tamela Rivera and her three kids were left to make it on their own until a combination of family and a local business came to the rescue.

"My grandmother had found out that the furnace had been down for like 2 weeks and I had my oven on and my stove and I have three children ... they were getting sick ... so my grandmother took it upon herself to give you guys a call and let you know about my situation," said Rivera.

"We've done it a couple of times, you know, it's the satisfaction we get from it is just amazing - we reach out to our carrier/distributor, who, anytime I ask, they say 'sure we'll donate a furnace ' We donate the know-how, parts and pieces and it all comes together like a well oiled machine," said Jeff Lee the general manager of Mechanical Heating and Cooling.

Lee says the company likes to give back.
The call went to Mechanical Heating and Cooling who are installing a new furnace for Rivera and her family. If you'd like to help, all it take is a phone to our Winter Survival Radiothon for THAW call 1-888-579-4950.
