Nick Lidstrom and To Appear At SportsFest

Athletes scheduled to appear at this year's SportsFest are (line-up may change without notification):

Nicklas Lidstrom - A 20-year veteran with the Detroit Red Wings before retiring at the end of last season, the former captain of the Red Wings is thought to be one of the best defenseman to ever play in the NHL. Lidstrom spent his entire 20-year career in Detroit with the Red Wings. Lidstrom won four Stanley Cups with the Red Wings and is the seven-time Norris Trophy winner.

Tomas Holmstrom - Playing with the Detroit Red Wings from 1994 to 2012, Holmstrom has won four Stanley Cup championships with the Red Wings. He is widely considered one of the best in the game at screening goalies and causing havoc in front of the net. Holmstrom retired from the Red Wings before the 2013 season.

Ryan Broyles - A second round pick of the Detroit Lions in the 2012 NFL Draft, Broyles played college football for the University of Oklahoma, set the all-time Division I record for career receptions, and was twice recognized as an All-American. This year for the Lions, Broyles played in 10 games and had 22 receptions for 310 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jason Hanson - Hanson has spent his entire NFL career with the Detroit Lions. Hanson, who first appeared with the Lions in 1994, was a second round pick out of the University of Washington. Hanson holds the NFL record for the most games played with one team, as well as multiple kicking and scoring records. Hanson has recorded 2,150 points over his 21-year NFL Career as well as 495 made field goals. Both are third among kickers lifetime.

Cory Schlesinger - Schlesinger spent his entire 12-year NFL career with the Detroit Lions. From the University of Nebraska, he was a hard-nosed fullback who made a living clearing holes and protecting Lions' running backs and quarterbacks.

Rick Mahorn - This former 'Bad Boy' played with the Detroit Pistons from 1985-1989 and had another stint from 1996-1008. Mahorn is currently a radio analyst for the Detroit Pistons. Mahorn won a NBA Championship with the Detroit Pistons in 1989.

James Edwards - Edwards played in the NBA for 19 seasons -- three of those with the Detroit Pistons -- and won back-to-back championships with the team. Edwards also won an NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls. The nickname 'Buddha' was given to Edwards because of his Fu Manchu mustache and stoic demeanor.

John Long - After a solid playing career as a shooting guard at the University of Detroit, Long was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 1978 NBA Draft. He played eight seasons for the Pistons, and he averaged a career-high 21.9 points per game in 1981-82. Long was the original backcourt partner to point guard Isiah Thomas before Joe Dumars was drafted. Long played with the Pistons from 1978-1986. Long won a NBA Championship with the Pistons in 1989. Long currently is the team liaison for the Detroit Pistons.

Earl Cureton - He played basketball at the University of Detroit from 1977-1979 and was drafted 58th overall in the third round of the 1979 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. The 'Twirl' played with the Detroit Pistons from 1983-1986. He won two NBA Championships with Philadelphia and Houston.

Mark Howe -- This son of Gordie Howe played 16 seasons in the NHL, and early in his career was a teammate of his father. Howe shone as one of the best two-way defensemen of the 1980s, being a three time runner-up for the Norris Trophy and making the Stanley Cup finals three times. He is a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and part of the 2011 induction class of the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. He is currently the director of pro scouting for the Detroit Red Wings.

There is a one time $10 donation fee for athlete* autographs. 100% of the monies received will benefit the 97.1 The Ticket/Beaumont Student Heart Check Program. Attendees who make their one time $10 donation will receive a numbered wristband. Due to the high demand of autographs, a wristband lottery system will be used for select autographs.
