DETROIT (WWJ) - After spending time behind bars on bribery charges political consultant Sam Riddle is weighing in on the race for Detroit’s next mayor.
“Mike Duggan and Benny Napolain better look over their shoulder because I personally believe that Detroit is ready for a woman – I would be looking at …former State Rep. Lisa House, I don’t know how well fired council Crystal Kristenson will do, you’ve got to understand that in Detroit, women determine who all the office holders are – pure and simple,” said Duggan.
Mayor Dave Bing hasn’t said whether he’ll seek re-election.
Riddle pleaded guilty in May 2010 to conspiracy, a charge that covered his crimes with then-Detroit councilwoman Monica Conyers and a Southfield councilman.
The government accused Riddle and Conyers of shaking down businesses for thousands of dollars.
