Mother, Three Kids Escape Apartment Fire

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac woman and her three young children escaped a fire, but will have to find a new home.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies said, Monday night, the woman heard the front window of her apartment on South Marshall shatter and then saw the flames. The Waterford Regional Fire Department was able to put the fire out quickly, but there is extensive damage to the building.

Investigators said the woman had been threatened by a 19-year-old former tenant of the complex.

The mother and her 4, 5 and 9-year-old sons were not hurt.

Oakland County Sheriff's officials called the fire suspicious. An investigation is underway.
