Carcasses Of Goat, Horse Dumped In Field

COLDWATER TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities in southern Michigan are trying to figure out who dumped the carcasses of a goat and a malnourished horse in a field.

Michigan State Police say they're investigating the find in Branch County's Coldwater Township as a case of possible animal cruelty.

According to police, a neighbor was walking her dogs when she found the carcasses and alerted the property owner, who contacted authorities.

Investigators believe the animals died within 24 hours prior to their discovery.

Police say the horse, which appeared to have been extremely malnourished or starved, may have been dragged through the mud prior to being moved to where it was discovered.

Michigan State Police are now seeking tips from the public. Anyone with information is asked to call 517-278-2373.
