DETROIT (WWJ) – Police in Detroit are looking for the driver who fled the scene of an accident after slamming their SUV into a home on the city’s west side.

WWJ’s Laura Bonnell reports the accident happened around 5 a.m. Friday on Euclid Street, near Woodrow Wilson Street.

Police say the driver drove across the home’s lawn and seared off its front porch and awning before landing on the neighbor’s front lawn. The driver then fled on foot.

According to witness statements and evidence gathered at the scene, police believe the SUV may have been traveling at speeds around 100 miles per hour.

A man was inside the home at the time of the crash, but he was uninjured.
