Floyd Mayweather Talks About His Showtime Deal

By: Evan Jankens

Floyd 'Money' Mayweather might be one of the most polarizing athletes in the world today, and Steph of 97.1 The Ticket was able to catch up with Mayweather after the weigh-ins for the Cornelius Bundrade and Ishe Smith fight tomorrow night at the Masonic Temple in Detroit.

Steph asked Mayweather, "what should Detroit look for with the fights tomorrow?"

"They should expect to see some pretty amazing and some pretty good fights tomorrow. Like I said before, it's a very, very good card – not just the main event, but the under card is also, you know, exciting. I want everybody that's listening right now to, you know, come check out the fights tomorrow."

"I'm happy to be back in Detroit," said Michigan-native Mayweather. "You know, it's always a great thing to come back to the Midwest. Kinda cold, but it's always great to come back for some championship boxing."

You would think with Mayweather being from Grand Rapids, he should be used to the cold weather by now, right?

The main reason Mayweather was in town was to promote the fact that he will now box on SHOWTIME PPV instead of HBO.

When asked about the move to SHOWTIME, Mayweather responded, "everything takes time, you know. I sat back. I waited. My team went out there and, you know, went to war for me to put the best deal together, to put a record-breaking deal together, and I'm happy with my team. They've done an amazing job – Leonard Ellerbe, Al Haymon, Mayweather Promotions, what else can I say? I couldn't ask for more."
