Report: Proposed Realignment Would Move Detroit, Columbus To East

The NHL is still working on realignment, and according to Elliotte Friedman on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada the latest proposal would see the Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets move to the eastern side of the league.

As it stands now, the proposal would see the league have four "conferences." Two of them would be eight-team conferences on the eastern side, and the other side feature two seven-team conferences on the western side.

Moving Detroit and Columbus into a conference with other Eastern Time Zone teams just makes too much sense for it to not happen. Not only from a travel point of view, but there's also some great natural rivalries in there as well. The league and NHLPA hope to have this all wrapped up by the end of next week.
