Macomb County Circuit Court Picks ImageSoft to Implement a Paper-On-Demand Court

SOUTHFIELD -- Macomb County Circuit Court in Mt. Clemens,  plans to become the first completely paperless state court in Michigan and has chosen ImageSoft of Southfield to implement a document and process management solution to help it achieve that goal.

ImageSoft will provide the court with the technology needed to create a paper-on-demand environment in which digital files replace paper files, and processes and productivity are greatly improved.

In addition to an enterprise content management solution to consolidate all the court's documents and information into a single, central repository, the ImageSoft iJustice solution will feature workflow for automating routine manual tasks, and technology to enable electronic filing, e-signature and e-certification.

"Macomb County has made a strategic decision to standardize on a single ECM platform," said Steve Glisky, ImageSoft vice president and government practice manager.  "The Circuit Court currently uses two ECM systems, which makes it difficult to share information. The ImageSoft iJustice solution will centralize document control and processing into a single repository greatly improving communication and collaboration among all the parties involved in court processes."

ImageSoft iJustice will enable the clerk and court to operate solely from an electronic case file where paper is no longer the norm but the exception.  This paper-on-demand environment will enhance the efficiency and transparency of the court as well as reduce costs associated with a paper-based court.

"We are very impressed with ImageSoft's proposal to launch our court into the digital age," said Chief Judge David F. Viviano.  "Our vision is to use digital images instead of paper to conduct the court's business, to store our data efficiently and securely and to conduct business electronically with litigants, attorneys and other units of government.  We are glad to have ImageSoft as our partner in this ambitious undertaking."

As part of the project, ImageSoft's TrueFiling™ electronic filing solution will replace the court's existing e-filing system which is incompatible with CourtView, a leading case management system.  The costs to update the outdated legacy e-filing system far exceeded the cost of switching to TrueFiling, a modern, standards-based e-filing platform that provides convenient 7x24 access to the court and the electronic case file.

The court and the Clerk's office will also benefit from TrueSign™, which enables electronic signing, and TrueCertify, which provides a way to deliver and authenticate certified documents electronically.

The project implementation began this month.  The initial scope includes support for Circuit Court civil and juvenile case types, divorce without minor children, and personal protection cases.
