House Explodes, Erupts In Flames After 'Something' Thrown Through Window

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit firefighters have had a busy morning.

A single-family home on Avon Street, near West Eight Mile and Southfield, was just one of the fires they were called to extinguish this morning.

Before the house went up in flames, one of the people inside at the time told WWJ's Mike Campbell that he heard something come through the window, and then there was an explosion. Campbell says he could see a container on the driveway, which was behind a vehicle parked there.

A woman who lives in the area told Campbell she's not comfortable with the neighborhood anymore.

"Yeah, I am, cause we don't have nothing going on like this over here," the unidentified woman said. "It's really starting to make it; it's a change. It's really a lot of bad stuff really been trying to happen."

It appears that everyone was able to get out of the house unharmed. There's been no official word from fire officials as to the cause.
