SUV Crashes Into Building, Damages Gas Line

DEARBORN (WWJ) – Police say an SUV crashed into a building in Dearborn, damaging its gas line and forcing the closure of Ford Road early Friday morning.

The accident happened on eastbound Ford Road, between Chase and Schaefer roads, which has since reopened.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ’s Mike Campbell said it appears the SUV clipped a corner of the one-story building. Police say the driver suffered minor injuries.

Utility crews were briefly on the scene to shut of gas to the building, saying workers would come back later to repair the line.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the SUV to crash into the building, or if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
