Temple Uses Late Run To Beat Detroit 83-78
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Khalif Wyatt tallied 20 points to lead Temple to its sixth straight 20-win season, beating Detroit 83-78 Thursday night in a nonconference matchup.
Scootie Randall added 18 points, Jake O'Brien came off the bench to make all six shot attempts for 16 points and Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson paced Temple inside with 13 points and 12 boards.
Temple (20-8), winners of four straight, trailed 39-31 at halftime and tied the game twice before taking its first lead of the second half, 53-51, on a 3-pointer from Wyatt.
From there, the game saw seven lead changes and four ties before Wyatt hit another trey with 1:04 remaining to give the Owls a 77-74 advantage.
Ray McCollum, who led Detroit (19-11) with 21 points, missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer on the Titans' ensuing possession with 44 seconds left and Wyatt answered with two free throws to seal it.
