DETROIT (WWJ) – It’s the weekend again, which means time for road work and intermittent lane closures in metro Detroit.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
In Detroit, bridge demolition on a section of the West Grand Boulevard overpass will require a full closure on eastbound I-94 from Michigan Avenue to I-96. The full closure will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and end by 5 a.m. Monday. All entrance ramps within the closure limits will also be closed.
- Eastbound traffic is directed to take northbound M-39, to eastbound I-96 to rejoin eastbound I-94
- Local traffic will be detoured to eastbound Michigan Avenue
In Detroit, westbound I-94 from I-96 to West Grand Boulevard will have a single left lane closure beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday.
In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound I-75 will be closed at Seven Mile Road from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday for environmental cleanup from an earlier crash.
In Wayne County, eastbound I-96 will have alternating two-lane closures from Newburg to Merriman roads on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. for detailed bridge inspections.
M-10 (Lodge Freeway):
In Detroit, the left lane of southbound M-10 will be closed at M. L. King Jr. Boulevard from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for sign work.
M-24 (Lapeer Road):
In Oakland County, utility work will require 15 minute intermittent closures of northbound and southbound Lapeer Road at Center Street from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
Beginning the week on Monday, March 4:
In Wayne County, bridge inspections will require the ramp from eastbound I-94 to southbound I-75 to be closed from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday.
In Detroit/Wayne County, ongoing sign and lighting upgrades will require overnight single lane closures on eastbound I-94, from Moross to 8 Mile Road, and on westbound I-94, from Outer Drive to French Road, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. weekdays and 9 p.m. until 9 a.m. weekends. This work begins on Saturday and ends in mid-March.
