Families Still Displaced Days After House Explosion In Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Three days following the fatal house explosion in Royal Oak residents like Jenny Buchman are finally able to return. But she says some of her neighbors aren't as lucky.

"Across the street they're not back yet 'cause they lost one of their windows and when the gas started burning the smoke went into their house," said Buchman. "So that cute little house there - they have smoke damage that they have to still figure out.

I thought maybe a tree or a car -- it shook the whole house. So it felt like something big hit the house is what it felt like and then everyone kind of came out onto the street - we could see flying shingles and wood and nails. You could see all the debris flying," she said.

As for her house, the mother of two says she has minor damage including blown out windows and a broken garage. The investigation into the natural gas explosion remains ongoing.
