PONTIAC (WWJ) - Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed outside a Pontiac business Sunday evening.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department said Nils Vickstrom was shot by the owner of Amusement Cafe after some type of altercation.

Police say the incident happened around 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the shopping plaza on Featherstone Road, near M-59 and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Just hours before the shooting, the Auburn Hills Police Department had contact with Vickstrom, a 33-year-old Pontiac resident, for panhandling in their city.

Police say the store owner, a 35-year-old Troy resident, does have a valid concealed pistol license. He was taken into custody after the incident and is currently lodged in the Oakland County Jail.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to review the case Tuesday.

As an investigation is ongoing, police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4911.
