The Texas Rangers asked about Detroit Tigers right-handed pitcher Rick Porcello on Monday, according to ESPNNewYork.com’s Adam Rubin.
The Rangers have already lost one rotation candidate for the start of the season, as Martin Perez is expected to be out until at least May after fracturing his pitching forearm Sunday.
Porcello has been on the trade market this offseason, with left-hander Drew Smyly projected not to make the opening day rotation despite coming off a strong rookie campaign.
