Police: Teen Shot In Face During Horseplay With Gun

TALLMADGE TWP. (WWJ/AP) - An 18-year-old man is jailed after shooting a 16-year-old boy in the face during what authorities describe as horseplay involving a gun.

The incident happened sometime before 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, when police say they were called to a home in Ottawa County's Tallmadge Township.

Investigators say the teens were involved in "horseplay" when a .22 caliber handgun was fired and a bullet hit the 16-year-old, critically wounding the boy.

Police are now holding the 18-year-old on an attempted manslaughter charge. He's expected to be arraigned Thursday in Hudsonville District Court.

Four other young people, ages 17 to 19, who were in the home when the shooting happened weren't injured.

Names of those involved weren't immediately released.
