Designated hitter Victor Martinez, who missed all of 2012 with a knee injury, returned to the lineup after a brief hiatus but had to leave after just one plate appearance. It’s not the knee, though; it’s his back. “It’s been a little sore, a little uncomfortable to swing from the right side,” Martinez said. “It’s nothing to worry about. I guess you can call it maintenance.” The Tigers expect Martinez back in the lineup Thursday.
