Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's the weekend again, which means time for road work and intermittent lane closures in metro Detroit -- and luckily, there aren't many.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Detroit, westbound I-94 will be closed from I-96 to West Grand Boulevard from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for demolition of the West Grand Boulevard overpass. The posted detour directs westbound traffic onto westbound I-96, to southbound M-39 (Southfield Freeway) back to westbound I-94. In addition, the left lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed at West Grand Boulevard during the same time frame.

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a 15-minute total closure, with police assistance, at Van Dyke Avenue from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday for installation of a cable crossing over the freeway.

In Detroit/Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have a single lane closed from Moross to 8 Mile roads from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday for lighting upgrades.

I-75:

In Wayne County, the left lane on the existing two-lane ramp from northbound I-75 to eastbound I-94 will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday for utility work.
