Corktown Business Ready To Serve St. Paddy's Day Merrymakers

DETROIT (WWJ) - Many Corktown businesses believe the "Luck of the Irish" is with them this weekend-- as they prepare for the biggest Irish Parade and run in Michigan on Sunday.

P.J's Lagerhouse spends all year preparing for this one day. Instead of one Guinness tap they'll have five and owner P.J. Ryder says it's hectic but it really helps their bottom line.

"When I bought this place a little more than five years ago, the previous owner said 'St. Patrick's Day is your catch-up day' it's when you make all your money and catch-up on all your bills and I really believe that but I ... tell people it's really our thirteenth month," said Rider told WWJ's Kathryn Larson. "It's like one extra month of business in one day."

"We plan on this (crowd) every year. You look forward to it with a little bit of dread because you go 'oh man, I've got so much to do' but on the other hand once it starts happening you just got to go with the flow, have a good time," said Ryder.
