Awrey Back In Bumpy Cake Biz After Bakeries Assets Bought

LIVONIA (WWJ) - Baking resumes this week at the Livonia bakery after Michigan businessmen Jim McColgan and Ron Beebe bought the assets of Awrey Bakeries in the nick of time.

McColgan, CEO of Minnie Marie Bakers dba Awrey Bakeries, tells WWJ that they're bringing back all of the Awrey favorites.

"We are going to bring back the bumpy cake. We're going to bring back the Bill Knapp's chocolate cake . We're gonna bring back a complete line of brownies and we're going to bring back the number one signature product , which is the Long John coffee cake among biscuits and other fine products," he said.

McColgan said that they've already brought back about 45 employees and hope to bring back more as the business grows.
