Reggie Bush: 'It Just Made Sense'

DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) In the wake of signing a four-year contract with the Detroit Lions, RB Reggie Bush took to the podium at the team's practice facility in Allen Park to say, "It just made sense. It felt right from the beginning."

His press conference came just a few minutes after the Lions posted a photo of a well-dressed Bush signing what's presumably a contract -- Tweeting the words "It's official." News later emerged that his contract is $16 million over four years, with $4 million guaranteed.

The team also Tweeted: "Bush says the strong fan base and selling out home games was a big factor in signing with #Lions."

The team quoted Bush on Twitter as saying his new gig was a "running back's dream."

Fan reaction was immediate, with Reggie in Detroit calling 97.1 The Ticket to say, "They need a playmaker like Reggie Bush ... He'll be a very good plus for the line."

Among those who don't approve of the signing was Matt in Roseville, who complained,"This is the same-old, same-old ... Look at the shiny new diamonds, a lot of flash, no substance."

Last season, Bush played for the Miami Dolphins, where he ran for 986 yards on 227 carries and six touchdowns. Bush also caught 35 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns. For his career, Bush has run for 4,162 yards and has caught 372 passes for 2,730 yards. Bush was drafted out of USC to the New Orleans Saints second overall in the 2006 NFL Draft after winning the Heisman trophy, which he eventually forfeited.

Bush is being brought in as a replacement for the injured Jahvid Best, who hasn't stepped on the field since he suffered a concussion Oct. 17, 2011, against the San Francisco 49ers.
