Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's the weekend again, which means its time for some road work and intermittent lane closures in metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be closed at Van Dyke Avenue (M-53) beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured to the Van Dyke exit and entrance ramps in each direction. Through traffic is asked to utilize I-75 and I-696 for each direction.

In Detroit/Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have a single lane closure from 8 Mile to Cadieux from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday for lighting and sign work.

M-5:

In Oakland County, northbound M-5 will have intermittent 15-minute full closures at Pontiac Trail between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday for utility work.

M-85 (Fort St):

In Detroit/Wayne County, northbound and southbound Fort Street, between West Grand Boulevard and Saint Anne's Street, is reduced to one lane through March 22.

Beginning the week of Monday, March 18:

M-97 (Groesbeck Highway):

In Macomb County, water main work will require single lane closures on northbound and southbound M-97 (Groesbeck Highway) daily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. beginning Monday and ending Friday.

I-96:

In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound I-96 will have single lane closures at Levan Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily starting Monday and ending Friday for permit work.
