15 Families Left Homeless After Fire Engulfs Apartments

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ)– Fifteen families in Harrison Township are without a home because of a fire.

Police say a 19-year-old was injured in the fire at Beachwood Apartments on Metro Villa Drive, near Metro Parkway.

He is expected to be okay.

Neighbor Adam Jankowski said the fire appears to have started in a kitchen and may have spread from there.

“It looked like it might have gone into another building but can’t see it too far (because) they won’t let you come in close enough,” said Jankowski.

No word on what caused the fire.
