The Kalamazoo Gazette reports 51-year-old Brenda Mulder showed up a half hour before Bell's Brewery opened at 9 a.m. Monday to keep her record - three years in a row - of enjoying the first Oberon served at the brewery during its annual release.
Michigan saw freezing temperatures on Monday. But Mulder says Oberon Day is "a holiday" and makes her feel as if summer is on the way.
Dozens of Oberon kegs are ready to be tapped at the Kalamazoo brewery. The beer is sold seasonally in most markets, but is available year-round in Florida, Arizona and Puerto Rico.
