Police Work To ID Body Of Woman Found In Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY (WWJ) - Michigan State Police are working to identify the body of a black woman found in a ditch in Monroe County.

Officials say a motorist discovered the body around 5:30 p.m. Monday alongside Newberg Road near Annabell Road in Ash Township.

According to police, the body appears to be that of a black female, but the age is currently unknown.

Circumstances surrounding the woman's death are also unknown. Officials are awaiting an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing.
