Stranger Danger: Man Tries To Abduct Girl In Eastpointe

EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Eastpointe police are investigating an apparent abduction attempt involving a 13-year-old girl.

Police say the girl had left Kelly Middle School around 3:50 p.m. Monday and began walking home when a man grabbed her around the waist near Nine Mile and Kelly roads. The girl told police the man covered her mouth and told her not to scream before he threw her in the back seat of his car and drove off.

The girl told police that as they drove around, she was able to jump out of the car when it slowed down in the area of Stephens Road and Gratiot Avenue. The girl ran to a nearby house, where someone called police.

Police haven't released a detailed description of the suspect, other than to say he's a black male in his 20's driving a gray four-door vehicle with a black leather interior.

Authorities say the girl wasn't physically hurt. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Eastpointe Police Department at 586-445-5100.
