Detroit Cass Tech Baseball/Softball Teams Get $10K

DETROIT (AP) — Comerica Bank is giving a $10,000 grant to the baseball and softball programs at Detroit Cass Technical High School.

It’s the third consecutive year for the Grand Slam Grant program.

Comerica is awarding one grant to a public high school from southeast Michigan and another in the central or West Michigan region. The recipient of the second grant is to be revealed on Wednesday.

The grant recipients will be recognized on the field at Comerica Park before the Detroit Tigers game April 6 against the New York Yankees. Coaches from both schools will throw out honorary first pitches.

In addition to the grant, each winning school also will receive game tickets.

Past winners include Kalamazoo Central High School, Lincoln Park High School and Detroit Renaissance High School.
