Authorities ID Body Found In Riverview Landfill

RIVERVIEW (WWJ) - Authorities say a body found by an excavator driver at a Downriver landfill has been identified.

Police say the body discovered Tuesday at the Riverview Land Preserve is that of a 29-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man. His name was not immediately released.

Police say the man's body was discovered in an area of the landfill, located on Sibley Road near Fort Street, that's used as a dumping site for home demolition waste from several locations, including Canada.

Police say the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is still trying to determine the man's cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing.
