Terry Foster's New Book

By: Terry Foster

Did you know the Tigers had players named Hooks, Moose and Wahoo? Do you know that Curt Flood was not the first free agent ever?

Tigers outfielder Roy Joseph Cullenbine was. The Tigers botched the move and it cost the ball club $500,000.

Those are some of the stories in the rewrite of my book 100 Things Tiger Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die. The book will be out this weekend and my first signing is Saturday at the West Bloomfield Barnes and Nobles (2-4 p.m.) on Orchard Lake road. It is an updated version of a 2009 release of the same book. But so much has happened with the Tigers that Triumph Books asked me to update the book heading into what hopefully will be another World Series appearance. This time the Tigers need to win their first World Series since 1984.

That's a long time. It was fun writing this book but this is not just a history book. I wrote about some of my personal experiences. For instance you might want to read about the best game ever for a dad. That is when I watched the Tigers rally from three runs down in the 10th inning to beat Cleveland with my son B. I put some of my favorite sports bars to watch Tiger games in the book. And there is a foreword by Tigers slugger Willie Horton.

I am in the process of scheduling book signings at sports bars. If you are interested in hosting me email me at Terry.Foster@cbsradio.com. I will let you know about future book signings on my twitter handle TerryFoster971. For instance I will be at McShane's in Corktown (1-3 p.m.) a week from this Saturday before the Tigers-New York Yankees game and at 24 Seconds Bar on April 24 and the Shelby Township Barnes and Nobles on April 19.

Hope to see you there.
