Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Luckily, road construction is schedule on only one freeway this weekend in metro Detroit. Several projects, however, are slated to start next week.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Detroit/Wayne County, there will be single lane closures on eastbound I-94 from Cadieux to 8 Mile roads, and on westbound I-94 from Harper Avenue to French Road from 4 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. Saturday for lighting and sign work.

Beginning the week of Monday, April 1:

M-97 (Groesbeck Highway):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound Groesbeck Highway will have a single lane closed daily from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday between 14 Mile and Utica roads for water main work.

US-24 (Dixie Highway):

In Oakland County, southbound Dixie Highway will have a single lane closed from Williams Lake Road to M-15 beginning at 9 a.m. Monday and ending by 9 p.m. Friday for sewer work.

M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound Van Dyke Avenue will be closed between 34 Mile and Ebling roads beginning at 9 a.m. Monday and ending in late August for ongoing road reconstruction. A detour will be posted for each direction.

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound Van Dyke Avenue will have intermittent single lane closures from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily between Bordman and 37 Mile roads beginning Monday and ending Friday for ongoing construction.

I-94:

In Detroit/Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have the right lane closed from Harper Avenue to French Road, and eastbound I-94 will have the right lane closed from Cadieux and 8 Mile roads starting at 9 p.m. Monday and ending at 5 a.m. Tuesday for ongoing light and sign work.
