Macombgov.org To Get Makeover

MT. CLEMENS -- A countywide effort is now underway to update the design of the Macomb County Web site, www.macombgov.org, and the county is looking for the public's feedback on the design.

The new look and feel will leverage the design of the www.MakeMacombYourHome.com site in order to create a more cohesive appearance across all of Macomb County's communication channels. All of the various Web sites managed throughout the County will be redesigned and converted beginning in April. A new organizational structure will help site visitors more easily find what they're looking for based around a 'live, work and play' theme.

The new design will integrate social media and other Web content tools to better engage our citizens and communities and to better deliver online services that meet today's demands. It will also focus on delivering the website in mobile-friendly formats.

The Macomb County Department of Information Technology is leading this effort and is working closely with the executive office, planning and economic development and the clerk-register of deeds office on the initiative. IT has developed the entire platform in-house -- taking advantage of free, open-source software widely used in the federal government called Drupal. This keeps costs minimal while providing the County with a powerful tool and platform for future growth.

To give suggestions, visit www.macombgov.org and click on "Feedback" in the upper right-hand corner. There, visitors will be able to link to a site where they can submit any ideas and suggestions for the Web site. Suggestions can also be submitted by e-mail to websupport@macombgov.org.
