Man Killed When Snowmobile Slams Into Trees

TRAVERSE CITY (AP) – A Traverse City man has been killed after the snowmobile he was operating slammed into trees in Northern Michigan.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports Monday that 46-year-old Jeffrey Gross was pronounced dead early Sunday morning at Long Lake.

The snowmobile did not go through the lake ice.

Grand Traverse County sheriff’s Lt. Chris Clark tells the newspaper that Gross had left a friend’s house before the crash, which was reported about 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

The crash is under investigation.
