YouTube And Friends Celebrated April Fool's Day

By: Sara

The online community really jumped in with both feet when it came to April Fool's day this year. Google tried to pull off two pranks. They unveiled a service (Google Nose) that would allow you to search for smells and said you could actually smell them through the computer. Their other joke involved Google Maps and an elaborate fake treasure map. On Sunday, YouTube announced that they were shutting down until 2023 so that they could watch every video that has ever been posted on their site and pick a winner. They kicked it off with a video from different viral video stars campaigning to win the contest.

But my favorite prank came from Twitter. They claimed that all tweets must be written with consonants only. If you wanted to use vowels, you would have to pay a fee of $5. The sad part about that joke, is that I could actually see it coming true.
