7-Year-Old Critically Injured After Crash On Golf Course

CASS CITY (WWJ) - A 7-year-old boy has been critically injured after the utility vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree on a golf course in Michigan's Thumb Area.

The boy, who lives in Cass City, was airlifted to Hurley Medical Center in Flint after Wednesday's accident at the Rolling Hills Golf Course in Tuscola County's Elkland Township.

According to investigators, the boy and his 5-year-old brother were riding the John Deere Gator small utility vehicle around 5:15 p.m. when he lost control of the wheel and struck a tree.

Police say the younger boy was thrown from the vehicle, but wasn't injured. In fact, the 5-year-old hopped back in the vehicle after the crash and drove to the golf course's clubhouse to get help.

The incident remains under investigation.
