Reward Offered For Info On Man Found In Riverview Landfill

RIVERVIEW (WWJ) - A $2,500 reward is being offered for information in the death of a Grosse Pointe Park man whose body was found in a Downriver landfill.

The body of 29-year-old Derek Golden was found Tuesday, March 26 in the Riverview Land Preserve, located near Grange and King roads in the city of Riverview.

Police say Golden's body was discovered in an area of the landfill that's used as a dumping site for home demolition waste from several locations, including Canada.

Family members say Golden, a 2003 Grosse Pointe South High School graduate, was last heard from on Sunday, December 9 in the Grosse Pointe area. His 2006 black Subaru Tribeca was found parked in the area of Conner and E. Warren Avenue on Detroit's east side.

Authorities have not yet released Golden's cause of death and police haven't yet identified any suspects.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest. If the tip that leads to an arrest is received by midnight Thursday, April 4, there is an additional $1,000 reward for a total of $3,500.

Anyone who may have information regarding Golden's death or his whereabouts prior to his death is asked to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can also submit a tip online at www.1800speakup.org, or text "CSM" and your tip to CRIMES (274637). All calls and cash rewards are completely anonymous.
