Opening Day Does Not Disappoint The Tiger Faithful
DETROIT (WWJ) - Opening Day brought thousands to downtown Detroit and many of the fans didn't even have tickets to the game. WWJ's Sandra McNeill caught up with one fan at the tailgate party at Grand Circus Park.
Elliot Ballentyne made the trip to Detroit from Ottawa, Ontario with 10 friends and a badly broken leg.
"It took me eight and a half hours, and most of it was through snow and sleet and giant deer crossing the street ...," he told WWJ's Sandra McNeill. "It's true - we're from Canada!"
Sean Barkley decided to have his bachelor's party on Opening Day in Detroit. He and his friends came in from Las Vegas. "Yeah, this is absolutely the opposite of what you would expect - bring everyone from Las Vegas to Detroit."
Barkley said he's getting married in May and this is his pre-wedding celebration. "Don't tell this" to the (soon to be) wife - he pleaded.
And the Detroit Tigers did not disappoint beating the New York Yankees 8-3 on Friday.
