Phil Coke: Opening Day In Detroit Is Special

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) The big Tigers home Opening Day game has begun, and at least the first few minutes unfolded exactly as Phil Coke envisioned.

What did he expect when fans heard his name?

“I hope they’re crazy … I hope you all come out here and are nuts,” Coke said.

97.1 The Ticket’s Jeff Riger asked him to “define nuts.” So the usually irreverent Coke did.

“There ain’t no roof on here, but if there were, I’d want it to blow off,” Coke said.

Most fans think there’s something special in the air when Comerica opens for the first time of the season, and Coke agreed.

“I enjoy every game anyways, but there’s something different and special about it about it here in the city of Motown,” Coke said.
