Geography Wiz From Bloomfield Hills Will Represent Michigan In National Bee

BIRMINGHAM (AP) - A Detroit Country Day student has taken first place in the Michigan state finals of the 25th annual National Geographic Bee at Western Michigan University.

Sixth-grader Neha Middela from Bloomfield Hills nabbed the top prize Friday in the competition on the Kalamazoo campus. She will represent Michigan in the national competition next month in Washington, D.C.

Friday's competition featured about 100 geography whizzes from across the state.
