Kent County Web Site Redesign Unveiled

GRAND RAPIDS -- Kent County's Web site, www.accessKent.com, debuted a new look Wednesday.

The new design comes after months of studying options, data, and public input.

The new home page features photographs promoting Kent County as a great place to live, play, work, and learn.

The new design also boasts simplified site navigation, making it easier to find all of the same content and applications. The site utilizes new technology that reacts to the size of the device being used, and adjusts the content to better fit smart phones and tablets.

"Last year, we saw a 13.7 percent increase in the number of transactions completed on accessKent.com," said Daryl Delabbio, Kent County Administrator-Controller. "With more residents accessing services on smaller devices such as smart phones, this new technology will make our site much more user-friendly anywhere, anytime."

Thousands of residents used the accessKent.com website last year, with over 6.6 million page views recorded in 2012.  Some of the services offered include:
* Court records searches and payments
* Deeds and property look-up
* Friend of the Court
* Certified vital records
* Marriage license requests
* Zoo reservations
* Inmate look-up
* Dog licensing
* Restaurant inspection reports
* Human resources and applications for employment
* Parks reservations

"Our Web site helps make our services more accessible to all Kent County residents," Delabbio added. "We are thrilled to have this new platform, to make visiting our site easier no matter what size device is being used."
