Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! It's the weekend again, which means its time for some road work and intermittent lane closures in metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 10 Mile and 14 Mile roads beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday for installation of a traffic shift. All entrance and exit ramps within the closure limits will also be closed during the same time frame including the eastbound I-696 ramp to eastbound I-94. This work is weather dependent.

In Detroit/Wayne County, eastbound I-94 from Cadieux to 8 Mile roads, and westbound I-94 from 8 Mile to French roads, will have single lane closures from 9 p.m. until 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for lighting and sign work.

I-75:

In Wayne County, there will be 15 minute total closure, with police assistance, on northbound and southbound I-75 at Cicotte Avenue in Lincoln Park between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday for Comcast crews to install an overhead wire.

In Oakland County, maintenance work will require single lane closures on the I-75 exit ramps to both Rochester and 14 Mile roads from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

US-24 (Dixie Highway):

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Dixie Highway will have only two lanes open between Andersonville Road and M-15 beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday and ending by 6 p.m. Sunday.

Utica Road will be closed at Groesbeck Highway in both directions during the same time frame. The lane closures are needed for water main installation.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 between 10 and 14 Mile roads will have a three lane traffic shift in place beginning 5 a.m. Monday through early June. The eastbound I-696 ramp to eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane during the same time frame.
