Police Catch Teen Breaking Into Orion Township Home

ORION TWP. (WWJ) - A teenager was arrested after police caught him trying to break into a home in Orion Township and found several stolen items in his possession.

Police say charges are still pending against 18-year-old Justin Scott, who is currently lodged at the Oakland County Jail.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was on routine patrol at 10:55 a.m. Thursday when he observed someone, later identified as Scott, wearing a hoodie over their head and standing next to a window of a home in the 2500 block of Flintridge, near Joslyn Road.

When the deputy stopped to investigate, they say Scott ran away. Backup was called and additional officers arrived on the scene with a K9 unit. After a short track, officers found Scott in the backyard of a nearby home in the 3400 block of Chalice, trying to climb a fence.

Police say officer released the K9, which grabbed Scott by his back pack and pulled him to the ground. He was handcuffed and taken into custody.

Upon arrival at the Sheriff's Officer Orion Township Substation, police discovered that Scott was in possession of stolen property, believed to have been taken from cars in the area prior to his arrest.

The sheriff's office said Scott had a valid felony warrant out for larceny in a building that took place in Orion Township.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident and say additional charges are pending.
