White Worker Sues Hospital For Discrimination

FLINT (AP) - A white employee is suing a Flint hospital alleging race discrimination following several high-profile lawsuits filed by black nurses.

MLive.com said Monday that Mark Hillaker Jr. filed suit last month in Genesee County Circuit Court. The environmental technician at Hurley Medical Center says his black supervisor made derogatory comments to him because of his race and he was threatened with violence and discipline.

Hurley spokeswoman Ilene Cantor says in a statement that she can't comment on the suit but says the hospital is committed to its non-discrimination policy.

The hospital agreed earlier this year to settle a case with several black nurses. They say the hospital agreed to a man's request that no black nurses care for his newborn.

One lawsuit filed by another black nurse is ongoing.
