Tigers reliever Jose Valverde took one step closer to pitching for Triple-A Toledo on Monday as he completed two innings of work in an extended spring training game, MLive.com reports.

The former Detroit closer struck out four batters and did not allow a base hit or walk in his two-inning appearance, his second thus far. He should begin pitching at Triple-A shortly.
