Morris Day And The Time Ready To Rock The Crowd At Soundboard

DETROIT (WWJ) - Just like the words say in their hit song, "get ready for a real good time," Morris Day and the Time have been helping their fans have a good time for decades. And that's exactly what the self-described "ultimate front man" says audiences can expect from Thursday night's show at Soundboard inside of the MotorCity Casino.

The group is returning to Detroit for one of their always electrifying shows, a city that Day credits with helping to put them on the map.

"One of our first real shows was at the 20 Grand, and that's the first time girls ever rushed the stage ... and we thought our managers had paid them to do it cause we never had that happen before," Day said.

The group spends about 100 days a year on the road. So, what keeps audiences coming back after all these years?

"I really feel like we're really one of the last of the Mohicans cause we still play our songs ... we're sort of a rock band, funk band, but we do steps, and it's a party band."

Morris Day and the Time will take to the stage at 8pm, and Day is encouraging his fans to be there.

"You better go get your ticket, or you're gonna miss one of the best shows of the year up in Detroit," he said laughing.
