Tigers reliever Octavio Dotel was unable to pitch Tuesday night against the Mariners but is nearing his return as he continues to work his way back from a sore elbow, according to MLB.com.

Dotel hasn’t pitched since Friday when he retired two batters on just five pitches in the ninth inning. He has a 4.50 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP through his first four outings and is listed as day to day.
